Complaint: 30-year-old driver killed in downtown Milwaukee crash, second driver arrested

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The victim has been identified as 30-year-old Iris Feliciano-Hernandez. 


MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Law enforcement arrived on scene to a two-vehicle crash on 6th and State St. around 6:07 a.m. Saturday, June 7. 

A red Volkswagen Passat and a blue Toyota Yaris were located at the scene. The driver of the Toyota, a 30-year-old female, was unconscious and later died at the scene. 

The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim as Iris Feliciano-Hernandez.

The second driver, 20-year-old Tremayne Brown, was injured and behaving strangely. When questioned if he had been drinking, Brown stated he had consumed "a couple of shots" of gin earlier. 

Brown was transported to a local hospital for a blood draw which law enforcement state that the results were "outstanding." 

According to video footage from the intersection, the Toyota was traveling northbound through a green traffic light on 6th St. through State St. The video shows the Volkswagen traveling at a high rate of speed westbound on State St. through a red traffic light and collided with the Toyota. Both cars are seen careening into the sidewalk, knocking over traffic poles. 

Police state that the Volkswagen was traveling around 70 miles per hour in a 30 mile per hour zone at time of impact. 

Brown has been charged with:

  • Second degree reckless homicide. 
  • Knowingly operate motor vehicle while suspended - cause death.

The Milwaukee Medical Examiner's Office says they were called to the scene at 6th and State Street at around 6:15 a.m.  

Police say that is where a 20-year-old driver traveling westbound on State Street, collided with a second vehicle, driven by a 30-year-old.

That 30-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene. 

MPD say they arrested the 20-year-old driver of the other vehicle as the investigation remains ongoing. 

Charges are pending review by the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office.
