MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- It's a small lunchroom but it's making a big impact.
CBS 58 stopped by the Open Door Café at the Cathedral of Saint John the Evangelist on Tuesday, March 5.
The cafe -- located in Cathedral Square -- serves grab-and-go sandwich bags and hot lunches free of charge every day but Saturday.
It's the only free meal program to provide lunch for those in need of food assistance in the Milwaukee community.
"We all know there is any number of reasons for homelessness and hunger. They are as complex as the very individuals that are struggling with them. The fact is we don't ask questions we just open the door because everyone needs a place where they feel welcome," said Father Tim Kitzke, Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist pastor.
On average, the cafe serves 100 people per day and almost all of the food is from Hunger Task Force.
