Organizers getting ready for Mexican Fiesta

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – One of the largest Hispanic festivals in the Midwest is celebrating its 45th year in Milwaukee.

Mexican Fiesta kicks off Friday at the Summerfest grounds, celebrating the culture, food, and music of Mexico and Latin America.

Activities include a Mass on Sunday, concerts, carnival rides, a run/walk, and soccer tournament.

Organizers say a visit to Mexican Fiesta is almost like taking a three-day trip to Mexico.

“It’s an opportunity to walk into all the little towns, beautiful history, and traditions in every teeny place in Mexico,’ said Tammy Olivas, a coordinator with Mexican Fiesta.

CBS 58 and our sister station, Telemundo Wisconsin are proud media sponsors of the festival.

Mexican Fiesta is organized by the Wisconsin Hispanic Scholarship Foundation.
