Packers claim tight end off waivers

The Green Bay Packers added another tight end to their roster on Tuesday by claiming Pharoah McKever off waivers. McKever was last with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

McKever is a 6-foot-6, 259-pound first-year player out of Florida International. He was originally signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers as an undrafted free agent on May 8, 2018.

After his release from the Steelers following training camp, McKever spent time with both the Cleveland Browns and Jaguars, as a practice squad member.

As a college athlete, McKever played in three seasons at North Carolina State, but only had one catch (an 82-yard touchdown). In his last year of college eligibility, McKever transferred to Florida International as a graduate student.

At Florida International, McKever caught 27 passes and scored three touchdowns in 11 games.

McKever will wear No. 84 for the Packers.
