GREEN BAY (CBS 58) - Packers Head Coach Matt LaFleur said it was the Packers side that first reached out to get the New England Patriots in town early ahead of Saturday's preseason game for joint practices.

"(He's) been the model of consistency in this league for a long time, have had a lot of success. He's highly regarded as one of the greatest coaches of all-time. So why not try to steal a little piece from how they do things and try to get a closer look at it," said LaFleur.

The Packers and Patriots played in the regular season last year with Aaron Rodgers at the helm, now the Pats go against Jordan Love.

"Talented player. Got a good group of young receivers. A lot of high draft choices," said Bill Belichick, New England Patriots Head Coach before practice. "Good offense, good offensive system. Well coached."

Packers quarterback Jordan Love found some success during the practice. In the redzone period, he had touchdowns to Romeo Doubs and Luke Musgrave on some nice play designs. Also in the team period, he had a nice deep ball to Christian Watson.

"I think it was a good day, a lot of stuff to clean up and work on and then obviously a lot of good things," said Love following practice. "They threw a lot of stuff at us today. Really good for our development seeing new things, different looks and going back and looking at the film and see how we did."

Rookie kicker Anders Carlson could have had better start to his day going 5-5 to start on his kicks before a miss wide left on his final kick of the day set off some groans from the fans in attendance.

Defensively, the Packers kept just about everything in front of them during the joint team periods. Cornerback Rasul Douglas feels the defense had its moments, but did say he was mad he missed a couple chances at an interception and had to drop for a set of push-ups.

"That's automatic for everybody. Even the trainers, you out there and a ball get thrown at you and you drop it. That's 10 push-ups. Coach, anybody," said Douglas. "I want that ball."

The Packers and the Patriots play on Saturday at 7pm at Lambeau Field. You can watch the game on Telemundo Wisconsin.
