BROWN COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Packers running back Josh Jacobs is facing multiple domestic abuse charges, according to police, after being arrested Tuesday, May 26. 

Officers responded to a disturbance complaint involving Jacobs the morning of May 23. 

Police say as a result of an investigation, Jacobs was booked into the Brown County Jail Tuesday on the following charges:

• Battery -- domestic abuse
• Criminal damage to property -- domestic abuse
• Disorderly conduct -- domestic abuse
• Strangulation and suffocation
• Intimidation of a victim

In a statement Tuesday, a lawyer representing Jacobs said:

"Josh vehemently denies the allegations, and this matter is in the early stages of investigation with important evidence that has not yet been made public. We ask for fairness and restraint while the judicial process takes its course."

Police say the investigation remains active and ongoing.
