Packers release Josh Jones

GREEN BAY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Green Bay Packers have waived (non-football illness) Safety, Josh Jones. General Manager Brian Gutekunst announced the transaction Sunday.

Jones was drafted by the Packers in the second round (No. 61 overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft and played in 29 games with 12 starts over the past two seasons.

The safety was slated to begin the season as a backup to former Bears safety Adrian Amos, whom the Packers signed to a four-year deal in March.
