Peregrine falcons return to Wisconsin power plant nest boxes
We Energies MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Peregrine falcons have returned to nest boxes at four We Energies and Wisconsin Public Service power plants, signaling the start of another nesting season across Wisconsin.
Utility officials said in a Monday, March 9 press release that the birds have been spotted at nest boxes at the Oak Creek Power Plant, Port Washington Generating Station, Valley Power Plant in Milwaukee and the Weston Power Plant in Rothschild.
Each name listed links to a live webcam of each respective location, streaming to show the falcons as they settle in.
Several familiar birds are back this year. Joel and Essity have returned to Oak Creek for the second straight season, while Hamm’s Solo is again at Port Washington with an unbanded female. Barney is nesting at Milwaukee’s Valley Power Plant and Sheldon has returned to Weston with a female partner.
The first eggs could arrive in the coming weeks, with chicks expected later this spring.
