MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – Summerfest is underway in Milwaukee and the crowds are out on day one of the festival, June 19.

“It’s the same getting in and out of here whether you park far or close you’re still going to run into traffic somewhere,” Summerfest attendee Jimmy Wright said.

Wright has been to Summerfest in the past and has handled the chaos in different ways over the years, this year he decided to pay the price to park close.

“Some days we just uber it in some days we drive in and pay whatever,” Wright said. “I just pulled right into a lot, and they told me it was 40 bucks and I paid it and I guess I’m happy with that.”

Others decided to walk from home on Thursday, Jack Weyer and Morgan Sidzyik say they walked 2 miles to get to the festival grounds.

“We saved some dollars and we’re going to spend it inside so it’s worth it for sure,” Sidzyik said.

Summerfest also provides shuttles from parking lots across the city, and people can take the streetcar, buses, or bar shuttles.

Parking info can be found here.

“It’s just pick your poison, if you want to pay for parking, you can pay if you want to walk you can walk,” Weyer said.
