Police: 62-year-old woman killed, 2 others injured in shooting near 65th and Hampton
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee Police are investigating a triple shooting which left a 62-year-old woman dead and two others injured, including a woman who is being treated for critical injuries.
Milwaukee Police responded to 65th and Hampton around 11:45 p.m. Friday for a report of a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers located a 34-year-old woman who was seriously injured. She was taken to a local hospital where she remains in critical condition.
A short while later, two shooting victims arrived at St. Joseph's Hospital. A 62-year-old Milwaukee woman was pronounced dead upon arrival.
CBS 58 News spoke with the son of the 62-year-old victim, who said she had been on her way home from work. He described her as a hardworker.
"She was somebody's grandmother, somebody's mother, and we're going to miss her," he said.
A 45-year-old Milwaukee man is being treated for a non-life threatening gunshot wound.
All victims were shot near 65th and Hampton, police say.
Neighbors described a chaotic scene as they heard numerous gunshots go off.
"I heard the gunshots, rapid gunshots that sounded as though it was right in front of my door, and I just ran in the bedroom with my husband," Angela Anderson said.
"(The gunshots) could have easily came through our house or something like that possibly, but I'm glad it didn't," Jalen McKinney said.
The investigation remains ongoing.
