ST. FRANCIS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Police shared more details Friday about a woman who was killed in a shooting outside a St. Francis apartment complex Thursday night, near S. Packard and S. Lake Drive.
The Milwaukee County medical examiner identified 32-year-old Kiana Pliska of Cudahy as the woman who died after she was shot multiple times outside the Lake Park Apartments.
A family friend provided photos of Pliska to CBS 58's Jenna Wells and said the victim was a loving mother of two boys.
The St. Francis Police Department said officers were called to the area around 6:30 p.m. July 16 for reports of several gunshots and a woman on the ground.
First responders rendered aid at the scene, but Pliska died at the hospital.
A 33-year-old man from Milwaukee was taken into custody about two hours later, with help from the Wauwatosa and Brookfield police departments. Authorities said he was the only suspect in the homicide.
Police confirmed the shooting was a case of domestic violence, noting Pliska and the man knew each other.
Authorities said neither lived at the Lake Park Apartments.
The suspect hasn't been named, as charges have not yet been filed. The St. Francis Police Department referred charges to the Milwaukee County District Attorney's office.
Officials said no one else was hurt in this incident.
A GoFundMe organized for Pliska’s family reads:
“She was a loving mother, sister and aunt who deserved nothing but the world for how strong of person she was. Kiana was always willing to help others when she had the opportunity and forever had a smile on her face while doing it.”
