A boost in temperatures despite the lack of sunshine
BARABOO, Wis. (CBS 58) -- It's now been more than 200 days since a Wauwatosa native was killed at Devil's Lake State Park in Baraboo.
No arrests have been made in 24-year-old John Schmutzer's death, but police say they're not giving up.
Police say Schmutzer was hiking by himself this past October when he was ambushed and stabbed to death.
Since then, police have reviewed hundreds of tips and conducted dozens of interviews as they try to find the person responsible for this seemingly random attack.
"John Schmutzer doesn't meet any of the criteria to where he would be targeted as a victim of a homicide," said Lt. Chris Zunker with the Sauk County Sheriff's Office. "There's nothing in his background that would indicate someone would be after him."
Investigators say more than a dozen witnesses reported seeing someone in dark clothing running in the area where Schmutzer was killed.
They say that person looked nervous and wasn't dressed for a jog.
If you have any information, you're asked to contact the Sauk County Sheriff's Office.
