RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A pregnant mother from Racine is recovering after she says she was attacked and beaten by two people while leaving her job.

Thursday morning, as Gheonna Lacy was leaving the group home she works at on Windsor Drive in Racine, video shows two hooded people rush and attack her.

"Just immediately started beating me, kicking me, stomping me," said Lacy. "I was screaming for help but also trying to protect my face and my stomach."

Lacy says it was a targeted attack and says while she didn't know the man beating her, she knew the woman.

"The female was making statements as they were beating me up and her focus was on my baby… was to kill my baby and to get that baby," said Lacy.

Police say one of the suspects was armed with a bat, and they're looking for the people responsible.

"It's like they had no remorse and they didn’t care," said Lacy.

She says while she was being beaten, she tried to crawl to the back of the home while screaming for help. She says when the pair finally ran away, she ran inside and called 911.

"I have multiple bruises everywhere, including on my stomach," said Lacy. "I'm just healing day by day. It's painful, but we are okay. Nothing is broken."

Lacy, a mother of two, says she's uneasy and still healing from the attack both mentally and physically.

"Now I don’t want to leave my home," said Lacy. "I have cameras put up now. It's like I didn’t know it would ever have to come to this."

She says she wants to see her attackers caught and held responsible.

"When you are pregnant, you feel like you are safe," said Lacy. "That’s your safe zone, nobody will touch you, but it's not the case here. I would just like for her and him to get caught and do their time for what they did."

The Racine Police Department says they are still investigating and haven't made any arrests yet.

There's a GoFundMe to support Lacy's recovery here.
