Forty-five-year-old Kamonti McFarlane was killed back in September of 2025.
Court records show Demonta Hambright is now charged with first degree intentional homicide in her death. Prosecutors say Hambright is McFarlane's ex-boyfriend.
Police found McFarlane with a single gunshot wound after responding to a report of shots fired near Custer Avenue and Shasta Drive the night of Sept. 29. She was taken to an area hospital where she later died of her injuries.
Officers spoke with a witness, according to the criminal complaint, who said he heard arguing and saw a woman lying on the ground with a man standing over her. The witness reported watching as the man shot her.
Prosecutors say surveillance footage obtained by investigators shows McFarlane arrive home and park her car in the driveway. After getting out of the vehicle, a suspect emerges from the side yard and chases McFarlane into the front yard before pulling her to the ground and appearing to "taunt" and slap her. The complaint says the video then shows the suspect "execute" her, firing a single shot.
Investigators spoke with multiple people who stated Hambright had choked McFarlane in the past and made prior threats to kill her- including videos in which he reportedly told her to "say goodbye" and threatened to throw her body off of a cruise ship.
Hambright was arrested in southern Indiana after a pursuit and crash. Court records show he has not yet been extradited to Wisconsin.
Hambright is also charged with possessing a firearm as a felon following a 2012 conviction of intimidating a witness.
