MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Outside the courthouse as the jury selection for Judge Hannah Dugan's trial ended Thursday, Dec. 11, protestors gathered on the steps to show their support for Judge Dugan and their opposition against her charges.

These protests are part of a larger national debate over the White House's immigration crackdown.

That brings us to the man Judge Dugan allegedly helped avoid immigration agents - Eduardo Flores-Ruiz.

He was in her courtroom facing a battery charge.

Protestors say making the court a venue for immigration arrests robs him and any potential victims of due process.

"It's cold out but I'm fired up because I believe that people should be able to go to court without fear," said Protester Diseree Pointer Mace. "That includes all of us. For all of us we have to be able to count on the courts."

Judge Dugan's trial starts on Monday, Dec. 15 at 9 a.m.
