Pursuit leads to crash and arrest in Greendale
GREENDALE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- In an early morning pursuit, Greendale police report that they engaged in a high-speed chase culminating in a vehicle crash and the subsequent arrest of a 28-year-old from Oak Creek.
A report from police noted that the pursuit began Friday, Jan. 26 just before 3 a.m. near 76th and Hill Ridge Drive, escalating when a vehicle, stopped for speeding and registration issues, fled the scene. Police say the vehicle eventually crashed into the north side of Chase Bank at 76th and Rawson after going airborne when losing control during an attempted turn.
No injuries were reported, although significant property damage occurred, including impacts to an electrical box, gas meter, downspout and landscaping.
After abandoning the crashed vehicle, the driver reportedly fled on foot, leading police through various parking lots. With the assistance of the Franklin Police Department, authorities arrested the suspect in a nearby wooded area. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
The driver reportedly faces charges that include Fleeing/Eluding an Officer, 2nd Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Resisting an Officer, Operating After Suspension, Unreasonable/Imprudent Speed and Non-Registration of an Automobile.
