MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The push for North Division High School on Milwaukee's north side to become a charter school is being met with opposition.
On Monday, students, faculty, and alumni held a news conference to discuss the issue.
People in the neighborhood say the school is part of the city's heritage and should be preserved as is.
"This building contains the infrastructure to not only serve the students with an education that would provide family-supporting wages but it would also conserve their families," said Marva Herndon with Women for an Informed Community.
The group also says parents and students were not included in the discussion of making the proposed changes to the school.
