RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A Racine man will spend years behind bars for a deadly drunk driving crash that killed a pregnant woman and her unborn child.
Prosecutors say Ramiro Baca, who was 18 at the time, pleaded guilty to homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle.
He's now been sentenced to seven years in prison.
Investigators say Baca had been drinking and speeding before losing control and crashing the vehicle back in February 2023.
"What makes this even more painful is Michele is not a stranger, but a close friend," Baca said. "I also think about her family and loved ones and the unimaginable pain I have caused them."
The victim, 18-year-old Michelle Romero, was 27 weeks pregnant at the time. Both she and her unborn son died at the scene.
