Jacob Kittilstad started the show with a big swig of coffee from the first of hopefully many ugly coffee mugs sent to the program from people around the state. The caffeine propelled him as he started the first interview with the managing/artistic director of the Racine Theatre Guild. Their production of “Always…Patsy Cline” starts in mid-July and the cast is making their final adjustments before opening night. The actress portraying Patsy Cline - Kate Potter-Barrow – performed a song from the musical and explained to Jacob that this is not her first time playing the character. Ironman 70.3 Racine is just around the corner and local competitors are making sure they have all their equipment ready to go before race day. Last year the swimming portion of the event was cut short because of back weather – but both athletes and organizers have high hopes this year will have calm skies in the forecast. People can also head out to watch the high-profile Wisconsin race by lining parts of the route and cheering on participants (many will need that motivation as they near the finish line). And lastly, the Racine Zoo is preparing for their Animal Crackers Concert Series happening every other Wednesday through August. Visitors can be among the animals as they listen to music from artists including Bria Skonberg (7/12), Gerald Albright (7/26), Booker T. Jones (8/9), and Larry Carlton (8/23). Organizers say that another draw of the event is the view of the Lake Michigan that people can take in as they eat food brought in by local vendors.
