Racine & Me: Icing Queens Brings Halloween Spooktacular to Maltworks

RACINE, WI (CBS 58) -- Southeastern Wisconsin’s first cookie-decorating studio, Icing Queens, is celebrating a major milestone with the grand opening of its brand-new location inside Maltworks. To kick things off, the studio is hosting a Halloween Spooktacular Weekend from October 10–12, 2025, packed with fun, flavor, and creativity for the whole community.

Guests can take part in beginner-friendly cookie decorating classes that teach step-by-step techniques such as outlining, flooding, and adding simple details. Each participant will decorate six Halloween-themed cookies, receive a take-home bakery box, and even get access to Icing Queens’ personal cookie and icing recipes. Classes are just $30 per person and designed for all skill levels—no baking background required.

Beyond the classroom, the Spooktacular weekend will feature paint-your-own Halloween cookie kits, DIY decorating kits, cookie scribes, specialty aprons emblazoned with the studio’s motto “Eat Your Mistakes,” and freshly baked holiday treats.

Founded by Miranda Cook, Icing Queens was built on the belief that creativity should be inclusive, fun, and approachable for everyone. What began as small studio sessions has now grown into a vibrant hub where people gather to learn, laugh, and create edible art together. Their motto—“Eat Your Mistakes”—is a reminder that perfection isn’t required, and every attempt is worth celebrating.

The new Maltworks location reflects Icing Queens’ mission of building community through creativity. From public classes to private parties, themed workshops, and custom cookie orders, the studio has spent more than eight years showing Racine and Southeastern Wisconsin that cookie decorating is more than just dessert—it’s an experience.
