Racine & Me: Wisconsin Humane Society Summer Match triples donations through Aug. 31

RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) — Jenna Crawford of the Wisconsin Humane Society's Racine Campus joined us in studio to promote the WHS Summer Match Program.

Thanks to several donors, gifts made to any Wisconsin Humane Society campus are being tripled through Aug. 31.

The summer match is WHS' largest fundraising campaign and comes as more than 1,300 animals are currently in its care.

Many animals across the community are in need of food, water, shelter, medical care, behavioral support and loving homes.

Over the course of a year, thousands of animals come through WHS' doors and require varying levels of treatment, from vaccinations to lifesaving surgery and extended periods of therapy. As animals heal and await adoption, WHS also works to meet their other needs.

The Wisconsin Humane Society serves more than 65,000 animals each year. WHS does not receive general government funding and is not part of a national umbrella organization, meaning its work relies heavily on contributions from the community.

At the Racine Campus, the Ruud Family Foundation is matching 100% of new donations and 50% of gifts from returning donors.
