Rain has finally arrived! Detailing timing and totals

NOW: Rain has finally arrived! Detailing timing and totals

It's raining! This the first accumulating rain for most of southeast Wisconsin in 12 days and the biggest rainfall since the middle of April! Steady rain with some embedded storms will be likely through most of the morning.

Here is a radar image that will update with time:

The rain and storms shouldn't be as steady by the late afternoon into the evening and even overnight Friday night into Saturday morning, but some isolated storms and downpours will still be possible.

A soaking rain is still expected with most of southeast Wisconsin getting at least a half inch to an inch. Some isolated areas could get more with up to 1.50" possible. Sometimes when we get a heavy rain after the ground is so dry, the initial rain can't soak into the ground and runs off which could lead to some ponding water this morning, but as the rain continues it will soak nicely into the ground. Also, watch for slick spots on the roads. All of the oil that can leak off of cars will float to the surface with the rain causing roads to be a little slippery.

The entire state of Wisconsin remains under a Level 1 Marginal Risk for strong to severe storms. Widespread severe weather is not expected but some isolated strong storms that could have gusty wind or small hail will be possible.
