Red Cross assists 23 flood victims, opens shelters in Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The American Red Cross of Wisconsin is providing shelter and supplies to residents displaced by flooding across southeast Wisconsin.
Staff and volunteers reportedly assisted 18 people at Holler Park and five people at Washington Park Senior Center on Monday night, Aug. 11
Shelters are open to anyone in need at Holler Park, 5151 S. 6th St., and Washington Park Senior Center, 4420 W. Vliet St. Services include meals, water, blankets, comfort kits, charging stations and pet areas. Volunteers also help replace prescription medications, eyeglasses and medical equipment left behind during evacuations.
Red Cross teams are actively distributing cleanup kits to impacted neighborhoods. Shelters will remain open as long as needed, according to the Red Cross.
