MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Twenty-year-old Tay Jackson was killed near Milwaukee's Moody Park one year ago on Aug. 25.
Even at her young age, she had built a legacy as a worker for peace in her neighborhood.
On Tuesday, her relatives, friends and neighbors gathered at the park on what they're calling "Tay Day," to honor her memory and her giving spirit.
Tuesday's event also included an announcement that the reward for information leading to her killer was being raised from $25,000 to $100,000.
Another local activist, Vaun Mayes, paid tribute to Jackson's selflessness.
"We had an event that focused on artists. She never once said I'm an artist, I rap, I sing, I do this or that. So she never once put herself in position to highlight those things, she just wanted to help. And that says a lot."
There's a fundraiser to revitalize Moody Park in honor of Tay Jackson.
Anyone with information regarding Tay Jackson's homicide is asked to contact Milwaukee Crime Stoppers at 414-224-TIPS. If you provide real information that leads to her killer's arrest, you could be eligible for the $100,000 reward.
