Hartland woman arrested, accused of swatting call that prompted shelter-in-place order

HARTLAND, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A shelter-in-place order in Hartland led to the arrest of a 50-year-old woman Wednesday, Aug. 26. 

According to the Hartland Police Department, the woman contacted the Waukesha County Communications dispatch center just before 1 p.m., reporting to be held at gunpoint in her apartment on Campus Drive.

A SWAT team was sent to the scene, nearby Lake Country Lutheran High School was temporarily placed on lockdown, and a community shelter-in-place notification was sent to those in the area. 

Police say they later determined the woman had been alone in her home, and "there was no indication of what she reported."

Officers took the woman into custody on pending swatting and disorderly conduct charges. 

The incident remains under investigation.
