MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Molson Coors will once again be ringing in the new year with free rides for the public.

On Dec. 31, they'll offer free rides via the Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) to help Milwaukee residents celebrate the new year responsibly.

Rides will be available free of charge beginning at 8 p.m. New Year's Eve and running through the end of service.

Several popular routes, including the GreenLine, BlueLine, PurpleLine, GoldLine and routes 14, 18, 19 and 30, will have extended service until 4 a.m.

“We’re thrilled to once again offer our Free Rides program on New Year’s Eve to help everyone ring in the new year safely,” said Tami Garrison, Molson Coors community affairs director. “Each year we’re reminded of the meaningful impact that stems from our Free Rides program and it motivates us to continue expanding this program.”

Molson Coors says since the program began locally in 1988, nearly a million rides have been provided to Milwaukee-area residents.

The company will also offer free rides on New Year's Eve to residents in Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Minneapolis-St. Paul and Phoenix this year.
