Rosendale man accused of attacking woman walking on trail with 1-year-old child

FOND DU LAC COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Charges have been filed against a 21-year-old Fond du Lac County man, after investigators say he attempted to kidnap a woman on a trail as she was walking with her 1-year-old child.
Miles Jaeger is facing the following charges:
- Attempted kidnapping
- False imprisonment
- Misdemeanor battery
- Criminal damage to property
The incident happened on Monday, June 29, around 3:20 p.m.
Investigators say a 27-year-old woman was walking on the Mascoutin Trail with her son in a stroller when an unknown man -- later identified as Jaeger -- approached her. The woman reported Jaeger placed a white cloth over her mouth and grabbed her by the neck.
Authorities said the woman was able to fight off the attacker and run with her son to a nearby residence, where she called 911.
According to a criminal complaint, authorities were able to track down Jaeger after several witnesses reporter seeing his vehicle, a white Dodge Charger, in the area at the time of the attack.
The victim was also able to identify Jaeger through photos.
Jaegar appeared in court Thursday morning, July 2 via Zoom from jail and is being held on a $200,000 cash bond.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 10.

ROSENDALE, Wis. (CBS 58) - A 21-year-old Fond du Lac County man is in custody after authorities say he attacked a woman and attempted to kidnap her while she was walking with her 1-year-old son.
According to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded Monday to the Mascoutin Valley Trail near the intersection of Willow Creek Road in Rosendale.
Investigators say a 27-year-old woman was walking on the trail with her son in a stroller when an unknown man approached her. The woman reported the suspect placed a white cloth over her mouth and grabbed her by the neck.
Authorities said the woman was able to fight off the attacker and run with her son to a nearby residence, where she called 911.
Deputies canvassed the area while the victim provided a detailed description of the suspect and his vehicle. Investigators said eyewitness accounts and security camera footage helped identify the suspect as a 21-year-old Rosendale man.
Shortly after 10:45 p.m., deputies executed a search warrant at a Rosendale residence and took the suspect into custody.
He is being held on charges of attempted kidnapping, false imprisonment, and battery.
Authorities say the investigation indicates this was an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
The investigation remains ongoing.
