MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- He is among the all-time leaders in every offensive category in Brewers team history, and on Saturday, July 28, Ryan Braun joined other Brewers legends in the team's Walk of Fame at American Family Field.
This afternoon's game was delayed by almost 30 minutes as the Brewers introduced Braun and showed video highlights of his career. The crowd of almost 33 thousand applauded the former star as he became the 23rd member of the stadium's Walk of Fame. The path to get here was paved with clutch plays in key moments, and there was a performance enhancing drug suspension in there as well, but now, that he's here, Braun is thankful.
"I just feel an immense sense of gratitude and appreciation for all the people that have contributed to my success," said Braun. "I love having the opportunity to get back here and to see so many former teammates, coaches, support staff, front office personnel, that were impactful to me, not only in my baseball career but in my life. I just feel so fortunate to be able to celebrate them, as I really think of this as a group honor."
Braun has been in town for a few days, and he keeps joking about putting on the uniform again. But the Brewers did not need him today, as they beat the Marlins 6-2.
