Searing heat builds, some storm chances
Updated: Sunday, August 25th 4:00pm:
The Excessive Heat Warning for Monday has been expanded to include Dodge, Jefferson, and Walworth counties. Additionally, the Heat Advisory was expanded to include Kenosha and Racine counties. Both heat alerts run from 1pm-8pm.
Heat index values between 100-105° are expected Monday afternoon away from the lake. An onshore wind will keep the feels like temps in the 90s.
There's also the potential for even hotter heat indices on Tuesday, especially if Monday night's storms stay far enough north to not shift our winds. With the potential for heat indices between 105-109° Tuesday, an Excessive Heat Watch has been issued for all of SE WI.

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58)--We caught a break with temperatures and humidity this past week. But our luck is running out quickly. Highs on Sunday will approach 90 degrees. It'll feel like the 90s though easily. We have a Heat Advisory in place on Monday from 1 until 8 p.m. for all inland counties. This could be extended into Tuesday as well. On these days, the heat indices will be more than a 100! Please limit your time outdoors and make sure you're staying hydrated. This goes for your pets as well. Frequent breaks are vital too.
The storm chances this coming week are a little harder to predict. There is a stronger cold front coming into view on Thursday. Obviously, there's a good chance for storms on this day, probably going into Friday as well. Meantime, some computer models state we could see nighttime storms, mainly Monday late into Tuesday and Tuesday late into Wednesday. It all depends how the atmosphere sets up with all the intense heat and humidity and "nocturnal" jet stream steering the overnight storms. It does look cooler and drier into next week. Stay tuned for further updates.
