MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- U.S. Senator Ron Johnson was in Milwaukee Thursday, Oct. 24. The Wisconsin Republican was joined by other prominent GOP members for a hearing on a key election issue this year: the southern border.
During a presentation at the Milwaukee federal building, Johnson criticized the Biden-Harris administration's border policy. But according to the senator, what he calls a crisis first started with Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, known as DACA.
Johnson said, "2009, 2010, 2011, and we kind of had a normal number of unaccompanied children coming into this country - about 4,000, and then what is the spark to all these crises ever since was the improper use of prosecutorial discretion, the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals."
According to the latest Marquette University poll, border policy will be top of mind for many voters in Wisconsin next month.
Voters listed it as the second most important election issue, only behind the economy.
