Senator Ron Johnson's US-Ukraine investigation released
WISCONSIN (CBS 58) -- Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson has released a report on an investigation into US-Ukraine policy and conflicts of interest.
The report said there were millions of dollars used in "questionable" financial transactions between Joe Biden's son, Hunter Biden, his associates and foreign individuals.
Sen. Johnson accuses Biden of not knowing Hunter's connections as "unbelievable."
"When you see this intricate web of the extensive connections he had throughout the world, the Secret Service protection, the fact Hunter was on Air Force Two at least one time on a very long trip to Beijing, what -- did they put him in steerage? Did they not talk? Did the vice president never talk to his son about making sure that he doesn't engage in business activities that would reflect poorly on the vice president?"
One part of the committee's findings includes raised concerns with Hunter Biden's position on Burisma's board.
Burisma is an oil and natural gas company based in Ukraine.
In response to the investigation, Biden campaign spokesperson Andrew Bates says Sen. Johnson has wasted months on a right-wing conspiracy theory rather than turning the committee's attention to the pandemic.
He also says Johnson stated that he is attempting to bail out President Trump's reelection campaign.
Below is the full response from the Biden campaign:
"As the coronavirus death toll climbs and Wisconsinites struggle with joblessness, Ron Johnson has wasted months diverting the Senate Homeland Security & Governmental Affairs Committee away from any oversight of the catastrophically botched federal response to the pandemic, a threat Sen. Johnson has dismissed by saying that 'death is an unavoidable part of life.' Why? To subsidize a foreign attack against the sovereignty of our elections with taxpayer dollars -- an attack founded on a long-disproven, hardcore right-wing conspiracy theory that hinges on Sen. Johnson himself being corrupt and that the Senator has now explicitly stated he is attempting to exploit to bail out Donald Trump's re-election campaign."
