WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Judge Dorow has claimed the admiration of people all around the world, but you'd have to argue that the most important of those people are the victims and survivors of the parade, including the Sparks family.

Their 8-year-old son and brother, Jackson, was killed.

Here's what they had to say about Judge Dorow.

"The patience. I have to commend her. I know this wasn't a normal trial for her," said Aaron Sparks, Jackson's dad.

"I don't think many people have that sort of patience," said Jackson's mother, Sheri Sparks.

"She had to take a lot of steps to make sure there were no appeals later on. And they did a really great job of covering all the bases," added Aaron.

"She was playing the long game with him," said Sheri. "She was making sure all of her t's were crossed and i's were dotted...She had him figured out from the get-go. She wasn't gonna put up with him and she did amazing."

One of the most powerful moments of the trial was when Judge Dorow singled out Tucker Sparks, who was also badly hurt in the parade, wanting to assure him that nothing that happened to his little brother Jackson was his fault.

"How Tucker somehow blames himself for his brother's death...it's not your fault, Tucker. It's Mr. Brooks' fault," Judge Dorow said.

"I loved that she said that. I love her, I hope to meet her someday. I even paused it because he was getting out of school. I ran and got him so he could see it and see her message."

"Yeah, it was just cool," said Tucker. "It was cool to hear."
