MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) --- When it comes to buying school supplies, inflation is impacting families nationwide. No need to worry, CBS 58 has you covered.
CBS 58's Tajma Hall did a little digging to find the best prices for school supplies at some popular stores in the Milwaukee area.
Tajma chose a handful of items from the school supply list for incoming 5th grade students at MPS. She then went to Target, Walmart and Office Depot to compare prices.
Here's a list of the items she shopped for:
- Backpack
- 20-pack of yellow #2 pencils
- 6 spiral notebooks
- 1 box of colored pencils
- 1 box of crayons
- A pencil box
- Note cards
- Scissors
Overall, Walmart was the least expensive and had the best selection.
Here are the grand totals for each store:
- Target: $45.28
- Office Depot: $51.39
- Walmart: $25.26
All stores had select items on sale, so families factoring in coupons and other discounts can still save at each store.
Keep in mind that all schools and grades call for different items and quantities for back to school supplies so your shopping totals may vary.
You may also be able to score better deals by shopping for your items at multiple stores or online.
