South Division High School rolls out the red carpet to welcome students back
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Students in Milwaukee, and many across the area, returned to the classroom Tuesday morning, Sept. 3.
Traditionally, some Milwaukee Public Schools, like South Division High School (SDHS), follow the early start calendar, but this year they all went back on the same day.
Students at SDHS were welcomed back with a red carpet at cheering teachers and community members.
"Remember to embrace every opportunity to learn and grow, be curious, ask questions and don't be afraid to make mistakes. They're just part of the learning process," said Marcela Xela Garcia, district 6 board member.
The district is starting off the year without a superintendent. Interim superintendent, Eduardo Galvan, says energy is high going into the new year.
"A lot has happened in the last few months. In the faces of all these challenges -- we are still here, and we are MPS proud," said Galvan.
