‘Spring training for our honeymoon’: Couple gets married at Brewers championship parade
CBS 58 MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) — As the Milwaukee Brewers celebrated their first World Series championship Friday, Erin Harington and Casey Manders decided to make the day even more memorable — by getting married along the parade route.
With help from family and friends, the couple set up near the celebration in downtown Milwaukee and exchanged vows as thousands of Brewers fans packed the streets.
“We stood by the stop sign, read our vows, Lindsay ordained and it was exactly what we hoped for,” Harington said. “It was perfect.”
Harington and Manders got engaged earlier this year and had joked that they would get married if — and when — the Brewers won it all.
Once Milwaukee captured the championship, the joke quickly became a plan.
“This is so spontaneous, like literally in less than 24 hours, and all of our friends rallied,” Harington said. “All of our family that could be here was like so perfect.”
Before they knew it, the couple was exchanging vows and popping champagne alongside the World Series celebration.
“Why not just get married with the whole state of Wisconsin celebrating the craziest parade, the championship — why not?” Manders said.
The newlyweds already have their next Brewers trip in mind.
“We’ll see you at spring training for our honeymoon,” Manders said.
