St. Francis pursuit ends in crash, driver in hospital

ST. FRANCIS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Three people sustained injuries after a crash in St. Francis on Thursday, April 18. 

According to police, they were attempting to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle near Layton and Pine around 2:30 p.m. The initial violation was speeding and reckless driving. 

The driver, a 63-year-old South Milwaukee man, stopped for the officer. The St. Francis Police Department says after providing his license to the officer, he fled from the stop and a pursuit began. 

The pursuit was terminated near Kinnickinnic and Holt. 

Officers later discovered the driver had crashed into two other vehicles near Kinnickinnic and Howard. 

Police say the driver of the fleeing vehicle sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital. The occupants in the other two vehicles sustained minor injuries and were treated on scene. 

The investigation is ongoing.
