KENOSHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Excitement and cheers filled the air as St. Joseph Catholic Academy in Kenosha held a pep rally for its football team. The rally gave the Lancers one final boost before heading to a state championship for the first time in decades.

The team is traveling to Madison for the Division 7 title game, facing undefeated Cochrane Fountain City. Students and families lined the halls and gathered on the front lawn to show their support. Players and coaches credit the team’s success to brotherhood, discipline, and strong coaching.

"We have guys that really bought into the program and that's honestly one of the big things for success—buying in and that brotherhood. That's just something that can't be broken," said Berkley Kuiper, senior linebacker.

"It’s exciting. The energy's amazing, it's an exciting time and show of community. They've all rallied around us - the alumni, teachers, administration. Everyone couldn't be more proud," said Head Coach Matt Rizzo.

The Lancers will play at Camp Randall Stadium Nov. 20 at 10 a.m. for the state championship.
