WAUWATOSA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The kids being treated at Children's Wisconsin may not be able to get out in time for the Wisconsin State Fair, so on Tuesday, State Fair came to them.
It started with a parade through the hallway and the fun just kept on going.
They do this every year - State Fair sends some of its performers over to the hospital to entertain the kids. They played games, sampled fair food, including cream puffs, and even got to pet some therapy dogs.
A specialist for Children's Wisconsin tells us this helps the kids feel less anxious about their hospital stay and that can be part of the healing process.
"If your anxiety is down in a hospital setting, it's easier for you to be able to do all the things that you need to do to get better," said Child life specialist Leslie Scott. "So, sleeping, eating, taking your medicine, procedures, all of those things makes it a little bit easier when you have that little bit of sense of normalcy."
