Stranger claiming to be distant relative, asking to take bath enters home, police say
BRODHEAD, Wis. (WISC) - A stranger claiming to be a distant relative and asking to take a bath was removed from a Brodhead residence Wednesday afternoon by police, officials said.
Brodhead police responded just before 5 p.m. to reports of a woman who had entered a residence in the 1800 block of East Second Avenue, according to a Facebook post.
After speaking with several family members, the homeowner determined the woman was not a family member and called police, officials said.
Police identified the woman as 54-year-old from Dubuque, Iowa, according to the post.
The homeowner did not believe anything was taken, and requested the woman be escorted from the property and warned for trespassing, officials said.
Police say the woman had theft and drug offenses in Iowa, according to Iowa authorities.
She was last seen driving a maroon 2002 Mazda four-door with Iowa license plates.
Brodhead police are reminding neighbors to lock their homes and vehicles. Residents are encouraged to contact law enforcement for activity that causes them concern; Green County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-422-7463 or the Brodhead Police Department at 897-2112.
