Streets of Old Milwaukee exhibit to display Halloween decorations 😱

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee Public Museum's Streets of Old Milwaukee exhibit is set to feature turn-of-the-century Halloween decorations for the first time in the history of the museum's walkthrough streetscape.

Visitors can view the seasonal additions starting Thursday, Sept. 19 through Monday, Nov. 4.

"Halloween decorations at the turn of the 20th century were creative and creepy, but far less elaborate and gory than what we see today," said Nancy Kruschke, the museum's exhibit maintenance specialist and artist, in a Wednesday, Sept. 18 press release.

She added, "Granny's parlor is decked out with Halloween-themed crepe paper artwork, bats and streamers, as well as cardboard box lanterns created to mimic the arts-and-crafts-style decorations common back then."

The decorations include replica items and museum collection pieces placed in various storefronts and homes within the display. Even the aforementioned Granny will be holding a copy of the horror classic "Frankenstein" to help establish the spooky mood.

Admission to the exhibit is included with general admission during regular museum hours. Additional information can be found by clicking here.
