MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Hometown students are celebrating the holiday season a little early today in Milwaukee.
On Saturday, Nov. 11, students from area schools participated in decorating Christmas trees at Cathedral Square Park.
The kids created handmade ornaments to hang on the trees.
Each tree represented a class theme or wish demonstrated throughout the ornaments.
"One was a plastic cup that got melted, and the other one was made by popsicle sticks and we could make shapes and put things through it," said one of the students.
Other students from local schools will continue decorating through next Wednesday.
Cathedral Square Park was transformed today into the "Community Spirit Park" as a part of the 25th annual Milwaukee Holiday Lights Festival.
The festival kicks off with a variety show next Thursday, at Pere Marquette Park.
