Summerfest annouces new 75K LED light and sound experience: 'Yield'

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A new sensory experience will be part of this year's Summerfest. The feature was announced in a Thursday, May 30 press release and is called Yield.

It is described by Summerfest's organizers as a cosmic cornfield.

The goal of Yield will be to immerse visitors in a glowing maze of light, sound and sculpture. The installation was developed by FuzzPop Workshop with local support. According to the press release, it aims to evoke childhood memories of getting lost in cornfields while exploring themes of ecological change and technological advancement.

The exhibit will measure 36-feet in diameter and 12-feet tall, featuring 192 corn stalks illuminated by 75,000 LED pixels and a multi-channel sound system.

It will be located near the South Gate of Henry Maier Festival Park, accessible with festival admission.
