Summerfest attendance down for 2024 run
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Attendance numbers for Summerfest's 2024 run have been released, showing lower numbers than 2023.
According to a news release, 555,925 fans attended Summerfest 2024, down 11% from last year.
“Summerfest once again hosted one of the most unique music festival lineups available anywhere," said Sarah Pancheri, President and CEO, Milwaukee World Festival, Inc. "While the frequency of the rain was a challenge, our team appreciates the support of our sponsors, artists, vendors, and fans as we absolutely found the Summerfest spirit throughout the run in 2024.”
Summerfest 2024 was impacted by rain six of the nine days of the festival, the most rain the Big Gig has seen since 2000.
A news release says during the festival, fans donated over 26,000 meals for Wisconsinites through Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin, over $13,500 worth of hygiene products were donated to United Way of Greater Milwaukee and Waukesha County’s Mary Lou’s Closet, 4,000 books were donated for Next Door’s community literacy initiatives, thousands of people were hired as seasonal employees for Milwaukee World Festival, and more than 70,000 free tickets were given out to the community.
