Suspect in East Troy stabbing arrested in Illinois after overnight manhunt

EAST TROY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A suspect who allegedly stabbed a man in the head and fled after a standoff with a SWAT team in East Troy on Wednesday, May 13 was taken into custody in Illinois early Thursday morning, according to the East Troy Police Department.

A woman reportedly called 911 at around 7:10 p.m. on Wednesday, saying a man was chasing her and her husband with a knife and that her husband had been stabbed in the head. East Troy police say they arrived within minutes and the couple left the residence.

The man was transported to a local hospital.

SWAT teams and drones searched the area after the suspect did not respond to contact attempts and could not be located. Investigators later learned the suspect had stolen a blue 2006 Toyota Camry.

The suspect was taken into custody in Illinois as of 6:30 a.m. Thursday.
