Suspect wanted in shooting on Milwaukee County bus
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee police are asking for the public's help in identifying and locating a suspect wanted in connection to a shooting that took place Aug. 24.
Officials say the suspect was on a county bus near Capitol Drive and Sherman Boulevard around 11:45 a.m. when he fired a shot, striking a victim.
The suspect is described as an African American man in his 30s, 5'7"-5'10" tall, and 160 pounds.
He was last seen wearing dark clothing, a dark, bucket-style hat and white face mask.
The Milwaukee County Transit System released a statement on Friday, Aug. 25. regarding the incident.
"We are actively engaged in creating and supporting a safe environment throughout the community," said MCTS marketing and communications manager Anna Schyver in a press release.
"We collaborate with the Milwaukee Police Department, Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Department, and our own transportation safety team. Know that if anyone commits a crime on any MCTS bus, we will do everything we can to be sure you are brought to justice" said Schyver.
"We have 10 cameras on every bus, so that’s 3,000 cameras across millions of miles throughout the county, nearly 24 hours a day, every day of the year. We work hand-in-hand with local law enforcement to help ensure we have a safe and secure public transit system for everyone."
