While a potent area of low pressure dumped parts of the four corners states with heavy wet snow, as it approaches us this evening we are on the warm side and only tracking some light to moderate bouts of rain. Temperatures will hold steady around 50 tonight so seasonably mild as the showers pass through. Brace for on and off showers that should be light to briefly moderate in nature and likely only provide totals of a tenth to quarter inch in most spots with some isolated spots closer to a half inch. Showers then continue over the midday Sunday before the system departs.
Aside from the rain talk, the temperature scene has fared warmer than normal so far this month. Today was another day a bit above those normals and certainly a mild night on the way a solid fifteen degrees above normal lows which should be in the mid 30s this time of the year. While tonight is mild, not record breaking. As you see that record high of 76 from 2020, that night was also quite warm! We stayed in the 60s on this date in 2020 after reaching the mid 70s. Long term our forecasts continue to signal high chances for continued above normal temps. Even though averages are in the 40s by mid month, records show we can still hit the 70s. We wait and see what shakes out!I'm meteorologist Rebecca Schuld
