'The need goes up every year': Lakefront Brewery hosts 3rd annual Diaper Drive
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Lakefront and Milwaukee Diaper Mission have teamed up once again for their Annual Diaper Drive.
This is the third year Lakefront Brewery and the Milwaukee Diaper Mission have come together to make a difference in our community.
In 2024, they brought in more than 9,000 diapers and 16,000 wipes.
This year, they hope to top that record with 10,000 diapers and 20,000 wipes.
"Any little bit that we can do is helpful," said Liz Mauritz, retail and donations coordinator at Lakefront Brewery.
The Milwaukee Diaper Mission gets diapers into the hands of people who need them most.
"We have disposable and reusable options in both programs," explained Lily Grant, operations manager of Milwaukee Diaper Mission.
Since its founding in 2020, they have continued to grow and expand its reach.
"We have distributed over two and a half million diapers in Milwaukee. We send diapers into the community every month, so on average, we are distributing 85,000 a month," said Grant.
According to the Milwaukee Diaper Mission, one in two families who are diapering a child report struggling to afford enough diapers to get through the month.
"That's a really high bar for us to reach. We have seen at Milwaukee Diaper Mission the need for our services go up and up every year," said Grant.
She says families should not struggle to get basic needs.
"For us, family is always a big part of what we do here at Lakefront Brewery. I can't even imagine not wanting to help babies and families," said Mauritz.
