'They deserve it': Packers fans react to 2025 NFL Draft in Green Bay
GREEN BAY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Green Bay is the official host city of the 2025 NFL Draft. Packers President and CEO Mark Murphy said it's exciting and an honor.
And Packers fans are glowing, saying who would've thought the smallest city in the NFL, with a population at just over 106,000, would get the opportunity to draw a crowd of 300,000, like Kansas City saw at last month's draft?
"You know, we've always been told we're too small, we can't do these kind of things," said Packers fan Katy Zeier.
"I think that's crazy, being like - just like being such a small, like, city for a sports team, and having a chance to have, like, such a big event here is pretty cool," said fan Noah Stascak.
The draft's the hottest off-season ticket, bringing together fans from all over the country for a three-day event that will be a big boom to the local economy.
"Well, they deserve it," said Brian Northrop, Packers fan. "Because they're number one. Go, Pack, Go, right?"
Details are limited for now. What we've been told so far is that the draft will take place right at Lambeau and around Titletown.
Diehard fans say they're already preparing for it.
"I'm excited. I'm definitely gonna be going. We've traveled to other stadiums, and they don't put on a show like Green Bay does," said fan Rachel Harmann.
The Packers say they've been working on this for years.
We're all expecting to hear more details at a news conference Wednesday morning.
Meantime, Wisconsin Tourism Secretary Anne Sayers released the following statement on the news:
“Wisconsin has long been a premier sports destination and hosting the NFL draft in Green Bay is yet another legendary experience we’re proud to add to the list,” said Wisconsin Department of Tourism Secretary Anne Sayers. “This is a huge opportunity to drive economic impact while helping sports fans from near and far make countless memories as they discover the unexpected in Wisconsin.
