Tom Tiffany secures Republican nomination for Wisconsin governor

WAUSAU, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Hours after Tom Tiffany was declared the winner of the Republican nomination in Wisconsin's fall gubernatorial general election, Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley claimed victory on the Democratic side.
Tiffany released a Wednesday morning, Aug. 12 statement to discuss the candidate as their one-on-one matchup is set to begin.
"I’ve said all along that there’s not a dime’s worth of difference between these Democrat candidates, and David Crowley proved my point when he admitted there aren’t many policy differences between him and a socialist. His record in Milwaukee County shows exactly what Wisconsin would get: mismanage the government, run up the bill, and raise your taxes to pay for it. Wisconsin doesn’t need more of the same failed policies. I’m running to lower costs, restore accountability in Madison, and expand opportunity across our state."
HARTLAND, Wis. (CBS 58) – Tom Tiffany easily secured the Republican nomination for governor of Wisconsin. He was challenged by Andy Manske, a working-class candidate who has never held office before.
The three-term congressman, who currently represents the 7th congressional district, has been involved in politics since 2009. He started out as the town supervisor of Little Rice, Wisconsin back in 2009. He later served at the state Capitol before running for Congress.
During Tiffany’s time in Congress, he developed close ties with President Donald Trump. Trump endorsed Tiffany earlier this summer during an event in Chippewa Falls. He was endorsed again by Vice President JD Vance. The VP visited Milwaukee to highlight the federal government’s efforts to reduce waste fraud and abuse of government funds.
Tom Tiffany has a tour on Wednesday that he is calling the “Common-Sense Leadership Tour." Tiffany feels he is poised to win in November, especially against self-proclaimed Democratic socialist Francesca Hong.
Tiffany released the following statement Tuesday night:
"I want to thank Wisconsinites across our state for putting their trust in me. This fight is bigger than any one party. It’s bigger than any one candidate. This fight is about Wisconsin and protecting the state we know and love. It’s about lowering property taxes, returning the surplus to you, getting utility costs under control, and letting hardworking Wisconsinites keep more of what they earn. Let’s move Wisconsin forward, together."
