MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- With about 200,000 people expected to pass through Mitchell International Airport in the next ten days, travel experts are urging folks to be prepared as Southeast Wisconsin is bracing for blizzard-like conditions.

It's all hands-on deck at the Mitchell International Airport as staff brace for the storm, one that's already brewing. The TSA lines are already longer than usual.

"This is longer than the past two times that I traveled, so I think it might take a little bit longer than usual to get through," said Ava, a traveler making her way to South Carolina.

That wait could be longer on Thursday, the peak travel day of the holidays.

The expected weather conditions made a couple travelers even change their plans to avoid the storm.

"Originally we were going to be coming in from Minneapolis, but we switched through Detroit and also made sure to put a long layover in Detroit, so we weren't rushed by a snow delay," said Christian Zaballos.

Stephanie Staudinger, PR for Mitchell International Airport, said they're ready for those snowy weather conditions.

"We have our snow crews that are ready to go to, they will be doing our operations maintenance staff on 12-hour shifts," said Staudinger.

TSA is encouraging travelers to arrive early, pack smart and do your research on what you can bring on the plane.

Another helpful tip is to keep an eye on your airline for cancellations, and those are expected through the peak travel days.
